We perceive three of something as being 'just right' - not too much, but enough to keep our interest.
The marketing version of this slogan can be understood as online marketing, consumer experience, and offline marketing.
Online Marketing - {website, social media}
You must have an online presence. If you don't have a brick-and-mortar business then your website is your front door and social media is the 'open' side hung on that door. If you don't have a website, I recommend Squarespace or Shopify. They integrate easily with other easy-to-use tools such as Canva or Constant Contact. March to the beat of your own drum and be yourself when you approach social media. Oh, and you don't have to post every day.
Consumer Experience - {online store, brick-and-mortar, sales cycle}
This is all about first impressions. Your first impression might be your website, your Google Maps page, your Facebook or Instagram page, or your front door. Whatever it is --> be ready for your customers. Do you greet them? Is your store or website clean and easy to navigate? Do you reply to inquiries? How do you fulfill the customer's needs?
Offline Marketing - {community engagement, word of mouth, print}
'Don't say anything that you wouldn't want to read about in the newspaper!' What's your image in the community? Do you support non-profits? Are you a member of the Chamber of Commerce? Consumers are spending hard-earned time and money at your business. Reward them!
Next time you sit down and think about your marketing, picture these three buckets filled with sand. Which one is the most empty? That is the one that you should focus on.
